Seven years ago, the Bainbridge Chorale hosted the first Messiah sing-along to be produced on the Island. That tradition has continued annually ever since, bringing together professional soloists, a talented volunteer instrumental ensemble, enthusiastic singers and listeners.
Our podcast guests are Bainbridge Chorale executive director Stephanie Harris and artistic director Michael Miller.
They tell us that you don’t need to be a great singer to enjoy being a part of the annual Messiah sing-along. All are welcome, including those who just want to listen.
This year’s sing-along will take place on Sunday, December 27th at 7pm at Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church. The church is on the Island at 11042 Sunrise Drive. Handel’s beloved oratorio, perhaps the best-known and most frequently performed choral work in Western music, is described as a commentary on Christ’s nativity, passion, resurrection and ascension. The Messiah is performed around the world during the Christmas season and at Easter as well. Suggested donation at the door is $10, with the proceeds supporting the two Bainbridge Chorale youth programs — the Olympic Girls’ Choir and the Bainbridge Youth Chorale.
