The public is invited to step into the heart of Bainbridge public farmland at the June 1st annual celebration of farming on Bainbridge.
In this podcast, Wendy Tyner, Executive Director of the nonprofit Friends of the Farm, describes the upcoming potluck dinner and annual meeting.
The event will be fun for adults and children, since it’s situated in productive farmland with a beautiful vista. From 4pm – and into the evening – there will be delicious potluck food, a Maypole, live music, a horse drawn wagon, and a bonfire to consume the year’s grapevine cane.
There will be a brief ceremony presenting the fifth annual Akio Suyematsu Award to the dedicated Friends of the Farms volunteer and board member Bart Berg.
This year the event marks 13 years of Friends of the Farms preserving and enhancing local farming, and serving as the manager of the leasing of scores of acres of the City of Bainbridge Island public farmland.
